2020 has been very different to what we all expected from the inaugural year of this new decade; with long-awaited events cancelled last minute and life seemingly on hold indefinitely. With all 20 of our weddings pushed back to the coming years, we had a deep feeling of loss and, once all the (substantial) admin was completed, we were craving an opportunity to put our hands and minds back to work in our precious craft...

One of the things we were most excited about in our anticipated 2020 calendar was the introduction of LGBTQ weddings. For us, love is love and it sees no colour or gender. However, 2020 threw us the Covid-shaped curveball and so we improvised with this low-key shoot in our picturesque hometown of Penne d'Agenais in the South of France.

The medieval castle ruins that sit atop the iconic silver-capped hill of this hidden gem, nestled in the Lot Valley, were fortified by Richard the Lionheart in the 13th Century. We opted to use this historic site for our ceremony setting, and added some simple styling and classic autumnal blooms.
Our beautiful models, Alizée and Manon, then took a walk around the cobbled pathways of the old town before making their way to our home, in the countryside just outside the village. Here we set-up the dinner scene in the walled garden overlooking the wooded valley.

The organic styling took its inspiration from nature, with neutral shades of sage green and soft beige offsetting the bright tones of the florals. The place settings were adorned with linen napkins tied in a loose knot, set upon our classic bourgeoisie plates and the delicate place names were woven with golden hops and tied with hand-torn silk.
